Jowairya Ahmed Soliman, a blind young girl who started rehabilitation sessions at Baseera foundation ever since she was one year old, and has become the first blind Egyptian student ever to obtain the International Baccalaureate (IB) degree with distinction. In her interviews with the press, she emphasized Baseera’s role in her integration into the society thanks to several training courses provided by the foundation including ones on daily life skills, education and the use of assistive technology devices.  Jowairia’s model and statements to the media is a major step towards raising the public awareness that visual impairment won’t affect learning abilities.
